Welcome to Salmon Catcher Lodge! Nestled in the heart of Alaska’s breathtaking Kenai Peninsula, Salmon Catcher Lodge is more than a lodge—it’s a family dream brought to life. Owners Justin and Gloria Hilgendorff, along with their four adventurous children, are thrilled to share Alaska’s raw beauty, unmatched fishing, endless outdoor andventures and unforgettable experiences with you.

Justin’s journey to the lodge began back in the Catskill Mountains, New York, where he grew up helping run his family’s historic Winter Clove Inn. From learning the ropes of hospitality to later managing his own construction company, his life has always centered around family, hard work, and adventure. Gloria, raised on a dairy farm, brings her own background of resilience and dedication to this shared vision. Before teaming up with Justin to own and operate the construction company, Gloria was a 3&4 combined grade school teacher. As such, Gloria mastered organizational and leadership skills that were integral in the success of the construction company and carry over today into the tight ship she runs lodge. Together, they discovered Alaska on a life-changing road trip, falling in love with its wild landscapes and feeling an irresistible pull toward “The Last Frontier.”

Years and many adventures later, with four kids in tow—Tristan, Austin, Juliette, and Parker—the Hilgendorffs sold their home in the Catskills, hit the road full-time RV traveling, and eventually found themselves back in Alaska. From Justin earning his pilot’s license to summers spent fishing the endless waterways and hiking alpine peaks, every path led them to one undeniable conclusion: Alaska was home.

Then came the chance to bring their passion to others. When they stumbled upon Salmon Catcher Lodge, they knew it was the perfect place to blend their love for family, nature, and hospitality. Now, they’re here to offer you the same sense of awe, wonder, and discovery they’ve found in Alaska.
